The third part of a virtual location tour, where details are shared about the real-world location for a place seen in the show. These may not always be locations you have a desperate need to visit, but it’s an interesting way to see the different areas of New York that are used for filming.
This time it’s a location where Jamie and Eddie met for one of their many off duty meals. Although at Eddie’s insistence this one started with the fortune cookies, which led to Jamie explaining the rule about how to read a fortune by adding “between the sheets”.
Appearances
This location was obviously used in season 8’s The Brave and it doesn’t appear to have been used in any other episodes. The surrounding streets have appeared many times during the various seasons of the show.

Clues
When they meet outside the restaurant there are two visual clues; there’s a distinct bend in the street, and a golden pegasus can be seen suspended above the junction at the end of the street.

Then once they are seated they’re both provided with menus which show the restaurant’s name.

Location
It’s possible to identify the location used thanks to these two clues; the exterior view shows that it’s on Doyers Street in Chinatown, and the menu confirms that the restaurant is Nom Wah Tea Parlor. It appears that the show doesn’t produce props if they can use the real thing.
Here’s a view of the spot where Jamie and Eddie met up courtesy of Google Street View (use the arrows to change the view).
Unsurprisingly, due to it being in Chinatown, this location is less than a 10-minute walk from Baxter St, the site used for the 12th Precinct.
This is what the view on Doyers Street looked like on when I visited New York last September, plus a better view of the golden pegasus over Pell Street.

The virtual tour will now take a short break, but there’s still a long list of locations to work through so it will be back next month for another batch of sites and memories.
Interesting as always. Thanks Nicki.
