One Year On

It’s been a while, but I can’t let this day pass without at least a brief post; as is typical for this time of year, I’m left wondering where the time has gone. Of course, today carries even more significance as it’s the first anniversary of the Blue Bloods finale, End of Tour. How is it a whole year since we last saw these characters together?!

I’m still intending to revisit my thoughts on that final season. I’ll admit I keep finding reasons to put it off, partly because I don’t really want to close that door, and partly because I’m still holding onto a faint hope that I might have a reason to watch an episode of Boston Blue… I won’t comment on the show as I still haven’t watched any of it. I saw the recent news headlines regarding Andrew Terraciano’s comments about the recasting of Sean Reagan; it shows what a remarkable young man he is to comment on the situation with such grace. There have been other articles about the likelihood of various actors appearing in the show, but many of those seem to be the worst kind of gossip. For now, I’ll settle for the memories of an often frustrating, but very special show.

  1. Personally, I believe Andrew did Donnie Wahlberg (who is an Executive Producer of Boston Blue) and everyone at CBS/Paramount a HUGE favor by doing a “there are no hard feelings” interview, something he didn’t have to do at all. He could have ridden off into the proverbial sunset and embarked on any future endeavors, leaving the Blue Bloods universe behind him. But no. He was a team player and did one last interview for the company that told him he couldn’t reprise his own character. You know… The character he played for fourteen seasons.

I get he was overweight towards the end of the series and that makes it hard to believe him as a police officer in modern-day America. I get it. But for one of the showrunners to say he couldn’t act?

    Bull. Crap.

Deep down inside, I believe Donnie Wahlberg knows Andrew got the short end of the stick. In fairness to Donnie, I believe even CBS/Paramount had Donnie over a barrel when they were negotiating terms for a Blue Bloods spin-off, but I don’t think it had to go down like this.

    End of rant.
